Even this one feels like an homage to Magnus 29. But the story really is missing something. I think the change in art is welcome - and fits A & A. But without Armstrong, the story that I was expecting - the back and forth, the sarcasm, the ribbing... It's absent. And the book suffers. The story juggles an EXTENSIVE number of villains around - quickly showing relationships between them, and telling the double and triple crossing nature of each of the sects. But it's SO overwhelming, I'm forgetting how some of these are related, and interconnected. Of course, the so called Black Box stands out - mostly because I've never heard of them - but also because they are wearing these ridiculous costumes. In fact, it's starting to seem that Archer & Armstrong just seem to fight oddly clothed individuals of teams. I do like that many of the universe's fringes are seeming to interconnect now - multiple references to probable upcoming conflicts throughout - referring to Harada, and the like. But slow DOWN. Instead, pit the two groups against one another, and introduce some other elements within. On a side-ish note, this last issue reminded me a lot of the later Valiant comics and Acclaim comics, too. Tons of internal advertising. Starting to make me a bit nervous. But I liked the dropping of the four page preview at the end.
I remember this.
I remember this comic coming out - and picking up the comic - leafing through this. And getting upset that it just had this PEEK of the X-Men. But reading this - and starting into Pitt - easy to see how the comic really took a new turn into a new place. It takes a serious bit of slamming onto the old guard - ripping on everything that Shooter stood for. Serious attack on his chin, and the city of Pittsburgh, too. But also some REALLY serious steps into the crossover event - and changing - the Pitt. It also felt like a comic. And great to see the consequences rippling through the universe - and the comic, too. This is a great place to jump onto the universe. It took a giant dump - and really put some changes into the universe - and the comic. It also explored the impact of changes on the universe - and it explored what the origins of the universe were in the whole White Event, too. It could be the Rai 0 comic.
