I hate dinosaurs. And bad sci-fi movies. And most of the Marvel Silver Age, too. Did we THINK about anything else? Was it just some big metaphor? So when I saw this comic introducing the old alien construct back into the Valiant universe - I was not too pleased. And I still am not too pleased. But this comic is outright hysterical. It has seized the pace and pitch of the old jokes. Looking at the cover here pictured - I think second to the last BWS one - it may have been the last escapade into somewhat greatness of the line. And this line is just getting going. While a few of the jokes are juvenile - the twins one, in particular - many of the jokes are sophisticated twists on Aram's adventures through time bordered by downright offensive bits of slapstick. The flip through time and the foul-mouthed (censored) nature of the dialogue are particularly great. A fun little romp through this. If you dropped the title before this one, here is a perfect place to jump back in again.
Is this fill-in month?
At least this one has a real story - and with far reaching concepts, too. I do like the fact that even though Ken is a total dirtbag, he is still struggling with trying to kill a person - even one who is so detrimentally wrong to the entirety of the planet. And Ken tries to move him to the sun, and kill him - but fails. Instead flailing him across the universe to go forever. And suddenly he earns regret - and guilt.
Then the next day, he struggles with whether or not it was even right. That is the real struggle of a man. Those pains are what a person would probably feel struggling with this. And it is what really paves the way for SOLAR so few months away.
