I am struggling as I take up keyboard on this title. It seems to have found its niche here - and changed over the story. As of right now, I don't entirely know if the rest of the story will remain on Earth - or sort of bounce back and forth between the Plasm world and the Earth one. Or - just return entirely back to the Plasm world. I like that the characters - and their powers - are starting to carve a more permanent place within my memory. But a few things in the book do grind on me a bit.
First, Shooter's ongoing need to share his stories out in public. Do I believe him? Absolutely. This isn't some crazed lunatic spouting. But also, it probably goes beyond the bigger picture of me as a reader. Certainly the man has a point (and many of them if you read the first half of the guy's soapbox statement. But as a reader, even now, it is starting to come off a bit whiny. Here's the thing: If you have a case to win, win it. Go to court and earn that victory. It was only after multitudes of years did Kirby's family finally earn the respect he deserved in a financial way. Even though, the leverage was really only leverage. If Marvel (or DC, or whomever) decided to remain pains in the neck, he never would have achieved anything. In the throes of battle - it just sounds pathetic to continue banging the gong. Especially after you earned the moral (if not long term financial) victory. With the realization that the comic battle bankrupted you - it seems really a mess now.
Focus on the comic. Not the complaints.
The comic is coming along more. It seems to be filling in the spaces - and not entirely certain if it's the fact that it has shifted much of the story back to earth or the writing has gotten really better. But good to see the division of characters here - especially ostracizing one character - instead of the old vote down the line thing. I was a little disenchanted when Lorca and Sue decided to just pull up stakes and return back to Plasm - but it makes sense. This is exactly what the generals would do when threatened. When you might lose all of your little guys, pull up stakes a bit. Back off, and bring in reinforcements.
I liked the comic all in all. Probably more than the zero issue and the first one. It feels like it's finally starting to fill in much of the world here.
Nice work. Wish it could have lasted.
But don't keep saying lust mate. That is getting really annoying.
