This may be the first real occasion that the company has sort of led beyond its source material - and that may be a good or bad thing - dependent on exactly where the entire thing spins out. Certainly it was probably a time to try out some new things - and this may be a fun experiment. Sort of leaning back to the Armorines - but not really. First - the art is stunning. Really fits this developing story. What may have seemed a little rushed in previous issues - now seems softer and complete. Certainly contrasted against what was put in Unity early issues - both in the painted sections - and in the Braithwaite art there - this seems to have perfected it. Especially considering the softer setup in the art - the harder lines of steel was an interesting choice. But a good one. Now, as for the characters - I like Quartz - and maybe that's why the art works - the organic feel. But the other character... Did anyone else get a sort of 3D man feel from her? I mean, she's cool. And with a decent name could work, but I felt like she was stuck in the Freedom Force game - or a throwback to the 1950's. Be careful here. Could be something great, and I hope it is.
