Loved this book. It has so much background and foreground working throughout it,. Very enjoyable. I loved the ability of the book to show the voices - not just in Aric's head - but through all of the parts and sections of the book. The characters are fun and multifaceted. It also looks at small bits of sideline characters - and adds the additional perspective - I thought Paul's voice inside of Aric's head was great. But the story stays true to the simplistic character established at the beginning. Aric also slaughters quite a few of the Spider-Aliens. Excellent. Great mind use - instead of attacking - the beheading is thought.
Down go the Ruskies!
Yes, it's a terrible cliched ending. But this is a fun little start. The battle comes to a violent close, and for a book written in the sixties, it isn't half bad. Starting with Tony again rushing between the battle with Titanium Man and himself - one that was sabotaged from the start. He starts fighting for Happy, whom we learn is still clinging to the edge of his life. Best moment? When Tony shouts, "Shut up, Countess!" Love it. The half bad part? The second half. Yikes. I hate the Golden Age stuff. It drips with the ignorance of the age - and cannot shake the colloquialisms. I also don't like those Golden Age strikes for freedom. Will I ever like a Cap story?
