First, the change in art. Gotta say that I am still digging this. I thought with the changeover to now three (at least) different artists, I would get a little bit ticked off. But this is really shining. Probably because each of these artists has a real flair to them - and the written pages seem to fit each set, as well. The story seems to blend across, and each has its own temperature. The lines are sort of colliding, and I wish that the story had a bigger bridge back from whence the last stories wrapped up. Especially since much of these stories will be relatively repetitive AND overlapping, we could probably drop a few other notes through the story, and still hear the whole song. The story so far has a great potential - I don't even mind much of it told through the flashback, yet. But we will see as it goes.
A great little comic here.
Okay, the audience skews young, here. REALLY young. Even as a kid, I felt like only someone a LOT younger could have picked it up. And I can remember talking with the guy at the LCS about the New U - and he may have even stated that this comic - along with DP7 - were worthwhile. And it has come a LONG way. The role of reluctant hero - while far too dripping - is worthy. And rather readable. The danger-room-esque practice helps out, and while their icon is gone, the kids are now leaning onto the past - and getting into the whole Native perspective. Perhaps this comic could be better correlated with the old Turok, right?
