This really should work. It tries to reconcile much of the past sections of Magnus - and I don't even mind the change over and rewriting of its own personal history. I should slap myself for saying that, but it was desperately needed to right the ship a bit and try to get back to the origins of what had made this comic so much better. It, unfortunately, fails rather thoroughly in this attempt. It felt disjointed - even the characters are trying to wrap around - and keep re-telling the story of the comics over and over again. At least, for now, this second or perhaps third attempt at the re-death of a new character seems to be final. For now.
This cover is amazing.
And the story brings from the woodwork a full force of characters - both from the FF and beyond. When Sandman isn't even on the cover, you know it's something important. While the story flows pretty well from scenario to scenario, it's great to see all of these places. The story doesn't QUITE fit into all of the parts of the whole. I am not certain if I had insanely high standards, but doesn't Silver Surfer seem like a big dolt in the book? Really? Entranced by visions of space so he can be overcome? But the story is a fun one. I loved how Doom took over his powers, and it has the feel of something epic - even if it doesn't quite make it.
