This comic was great. Loved the concepts, the names, the way Harbinger found Peter, and the way Peter survived. (The killing of Joe was kinda violent, though.) But anyway, loved this book from cover to cover.
FF triumphs again!
Great. Cover to cover, great. I knew that Alicia and Sue would do the ol' switcheroo. Loved the way they included Alicia. She's my favorite character so far. Kinda a silly comic, but great.
Where it started...
So much contained in this book. Gotta say. Totally impressed by this book still today. When it was published, I felt that I would never own a copy of this book - in the pink edition, at least. I was ecstatic when the trade paperback was published, so I could join in the party of this story. Of course, after I owned it, I realized that the value of the book drastically fell from the publication of the trade. Enough whining already! What a story. Great origin - not only of Kris and Pete's relationship, but a great look into Pete's origin, too. From my current perspective, it's cool that so much of the story takes place in Pittsburgh. The best part, though, was the exploration of his power. The gun - while we know that he survived - still brought the tension to the surface. Excellent book.
How it ended.
"It's an extra-sensitive radar... designed to sense flesh covered by steel." Wow. Sad and patheti-sad. Doom's big plan is to disguise himself and follow the FF through tiny disks placed on their hands (fine, fine...) and keep an eye on them with giant reject ghosts spawned by Casper and Bozo. Ugh... Too many times these books start off well, then kill themselves with silliness. It DOES feature a cameo of the President - or at least of his hairline. Kinda cool. The battle between all of them actually brings most of the book back to speed - despite how cheesy this cover looks. Not bad work for the sixties.
