With the whole DC lawsuit thing, so much HAD to change - but this one is more a stylistic homage, anyway. But the set cover from the start - at least THAT one is still sort of out there, right? That's a fantastic comic. Loved it. As for the innards of this one - it's at best a comic imitation. Its dialogue isn't even really connected to the whole flow of the comic at all. The scene between Nettie and Zero - it's painfully filled with dialogue. No connection to the story - and SO much is told - after a short while it becomes so much noise flowing through the comic that I can't even keep up with it. The issue 16-20 can't get here soon enough.
This was a rather decent issue.
It felt like it was FINALLY starting to shake some of the old cobwebs off of the old setup of the comic - that it had started to build SOMETHING inside of the pages that wasn't so heavily dripping with all of the garbage of the last issues. Yes, it does rely pretty heavily on masks and disguises - and some of the stuff in the story - like the fact that Cap was going to see this German doctor - seemed unbelievable. But the issue - especially for one that flowed along so cleanly at the end of the book - was a decent read. PLEASE keep this new focus going. Even with nightmares, crazy drugs, running off after confederates, and not letting the war die - it's much better than it has been.
