And probably the centerpiece of the issue. But the story isn't that bad, either. I liked the flashback to the story with bathing in the blood of 'innocents.' Cool to see him strike out against that. Then, the parallel to modern day 'pirates.' Interesting to see how a comic tackles such a tough issue - but in need of tackling, too. I liked the change in the story - much of it is told well visually. It isn't as far as the huge rippling characters in the Visitor. They are still relatively bound within reality. Much of the dialogue - especially some of the sound effects - are a bit clunky... But the comic is an excellent read on the whole.
So, we're back to four.
The issue suggests itself as an offbeat tale - and perhaps I didn't take as long as the issue told me, but this was mediocre. Sure, the Goliath II appears in the comic - and some of the parts are a little realistic - but the story isn't too memorable. The Serpent Society reminds me a lot of GI Joe's Serpentor - and not at all less cheesy. I don't like the Avengers team so small, and I think I am getting tired of females in this era. They just seem very trite - and not easily able to be written at all. Bring back some stronger team mates, please!
