I read this as much more of a Bloodshot Companion than a Rai companion, certainly. While included with the Rai TPB, it certainly holds more influence on the Bloodshot mantra. That BLOOD, I tellya. It explores a little more of the Unity story, and Geoff following the blood over from Unity 0 to Rai 0. It is a nice story, but pretty superfluous. I get the feeling that much of the story being told now is filling in cracks that weren't necessarily even there. But, what do I know, right? Not really worth grabbing, but TONS are out there.
This one rings like the Sliver Age
This may even be a bit more like a Golden Age comic, truly. Replace Nazis with Red Commie China - and this is what the book feels like. caricature versions of local people put against strange fellows - stuck in the perils of the Red Chinese. The Avengers somewhat lose the battle until Wanda jumps in and rescues the crew by disabling the robot - controlled through drapes like the Wizard of Oz. Too bad. The book had taken some serious steps into respectability before this issue.
I hate to say it
But the Rai Companion is better than the Avengers.
